Effective August 9, 2024, the Kentucky Justice Association Board of Governors and Membership amended the membership requirements as follows:
(1) Regular Member—To be eligible for Regular Membership in the Kentucky Justice Association, a candidate must meet all of the following:
- Be licensed to practice law in any county; state or jurisdiction; and be of good moral character and is engaged in any field or phase of advocacy;
- Be committed and devoted to the concept of a fair trial, the adversary system, and a just result of the injured and those whose rights are jeopardized
- Devotes less than 51 percent of their practice to defending claims for personal injury, wrongful death, workers’ compensation or employment matters; and
- Shall not share, disseminate or discuss any materials obtained through Kentucky Justice Association with anyone who does not meet the criteria for Kentucky Justice Association membership.
This person shall continue to be a Regular Member in good standing upon payment of periodic dues and during continued adherence to the objectives of the Kentucky Justice Association to which the member subscribed in writing and the rules established by the Kentucky Justice Association, and the qualifications for Regular Membership. Should a Regular Member fail to meet the qualifications to maintain their membership, the Regular Member is obligated to notify the Kentucky Justice Association immediately and understands and agrees that their membership will be immediately terminated and that no dues will be refunded unless authorized by the Executive Committee. Any Regular Member in good standing shall be entitled to one vote on any matter submitted for vote by the Membership.
(2) Legal Staff Member—Any person who works as a legal staff member for an attorney who is a Regular Member of the organization. Should the legal staff member cease to work for a Regular Member of Kentucky Justice Association, the legal staff member is obligated to notify the Kentucky Justice Association immediately and understands and agrees that their legal staff membership will be immediately terminated and that no dues will be refunded unless authorized by the Executive Committee.
(3) Kentucky Justice Association shall have the discretion to deny new membership or renewal of membership.
